L Wang: KTP Student 08
For these reasons KTP was the ideal choice for somebody like me. Having had just graduated from University I wanted some 'hands on' work experience and KTP enabled me to get practical knowledge whilst keeping my connection with the university; this helped me to enhance my learning further. Having been registered as a PhD student with the university I was able to receive a certain amount of money as a training budget. This could be used for whatever work related training I needed. I used part of it to pay for my tuition fees, and the remaining part I used for other training.
I worked at Metal Spinners Group for two years, beginning in 2008, I spent about 95% of my year working at the company. As the scheme is run though universities it meant I was able to attend training lectures for the other 5% of my time. It also meant that I had full access to university resources, such as: the library, my student account, academic lectures and seminars; this also meant that I recieved payment though my university, the University of Durham.
